Background In 2020, members of Community Upcycle and the Columbia Gorge Climate Action Network (CGCAN) proposed a climate emergency resolution for consideration by the White Salmon City Council. While community groups can present suggestions for legislation, it is up to the council (and the Community Development committee in this case) to review, revise, and ultimately decide whether they have a document ready to put before the City Council for a vote. This proposed resolution was discussed at the October 19 Community Development meeting, the November 4 City Council meeting, and the November 16 Community Development meeting, and theJan 14 Community Development meeting, going through numerous iterations before its current form.
